On 18 September 2026 Next G Cloud took part in the Web Corporate Meeting organised by Polo ICT, Piedmont’s ICT innovation cluster: “Security: the critical technologies that protect data, systems and territory. How startups and SMEs can grow in the security market”.
Security is no longer just a matter of networks and firewalls. Today it concerns data and information systems, but also physical spaces, critical infrastructure and the territory — a much broader field, in which the skills of ICT companies (software, data, systems integration, artificial intelligence) have become central. Around this growing need a fast-expanding market is taking shape, and the webinar offered an overview of the technologies that are redefining security and of the opportunities they open up for startups and SMEs: from cybersecurity for networks and data, to airspace monitoring against the misuse of drones, to technologies protecting infrastructure and the territory, and applied research projects in the civil domain.
The programme
- Welcome and introduction by Polo ICT
- Presentation of the Scientific and Technical Committee of the Distretto Aerospaziale Piemonte (DAP), by Prof. Fulvia Quagliotti
- Keynote by Gen. Giovanni Savoldelli (Digisky; Tecno in Drone Academy) on drone and counter-UAS systems: technologies and regulatory aspects for the protection of critical infrastructure
- Company pitches by Stratobotic, Reply, STAM, Alphawaves, CSELT and Next G Cloud
- Q&A and closing
Our talk: your private and sovereign AI
Dario Sabella, CEO of Next G Cloud, presented “Cybersecurity in the age of artificial intelligence: your private and sovereign AI”. The starting point was the Clusit Report 2025: Italy, with 0.7% of the world’s population and 1.8% of global GDP, accounts for around 10% of cyber attacks worldwide, with an average cost of about €100K per SME.
AI adds new risks for data in use:
- Higher exposure: AI models process large amounts of data in real time, widening the surface that can be attacked.
- New attack vectors, such as model extraction and data poisoning, aimed at stealing or altering data.
- Shared environments, where weak isolation in cloud setups can let attackers exploit model flaws to reach other users’ data.
Next G Cloud’s answer combines Confidential Computing — listed by Gartner among the top strategic technology trends for 2026 — with private and sovereign AI: data stays encrypted even while it is processed, inside hardware-based Trusted Execution Environments, protected from unauthorised access, including by cloud and service providers. Solutions can run on-premise, within the customer’s perimeter, or in Next G Cloud’s private cloud, hosted in a Rated-4 certified, carrier-neutral data center in Northern Italy.
In line with the theme of the meeting, the talk closed with use cases for territory protection: sovereign drones and edge AI clouds, and satellites and digital twins brought together in a federated, sovereign digital twin of the territory, where each data owner keeps control of its own data.
